they work well for nano systems or over a fuge. this bulb along with the 10k can support low light corals. they allow the corals to grow but they grow alittle slower.

Great for the Picotope
My Picotope aquarium came with a 9w power compact dual 10,000K/420 Actinic bulb. I decided to give it a shot with the actinic even though I have a freshwater plant setup with some low light plants. I've heard Actinic can contribute to spot algae and blue green, but i didn't really have trouble at all. The straight up 10,000K should work even better.
